Brad Bowman
Brad Bowman is a key figure in skateboarding history, renowned for his stylish approach to the sport in the late 1970s. His skateboarding journey began in the 1960s with a metal-wheeled skateboard in Indiana, and later, in California, he discovered a clay-wheeled Super Surfer board. As he developed his skills in San Fernando Valley, he became part of a local crew and frequently skated the Skatercross, a vertical snake run. His smooth style and creativity attracted photographers, landing him in skateboarding magazines and earning sponsorships from top brands like G&S, Independent Trucks, and Sims. Brad pioneered tricks like frontside airs, layback grinds, and inverts. In 1979, he helped fuse skateboarding with punk rock, which contributed to the rise of "Skate Rock" music. After retiring from pro skating, he became a hairstylist. Brad's influence lives on through iconic photos and his 2018 induction into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.
