William Strobeck is an American skateboarding filmmaker whose distinctive visual style has shaped modern skate video aesthetics. Born on March 17, 1978, in Syracuse, New York, Strobeck began filming skateboarding in his teens and moved to Philadelphia in 1996, where he immersed himself in the Love Park scene. He became a key contributor to Alien Workshop’s acclaimed 2000 video *Photosynthesis*, documenting skaters like Jason Dill and Anthony Pappalardo.
Strobeck's work gained wider recognition through his collaboration with Supreme, beginning with 'cherry' (2014), the brand’s first full-length skate video. His raw, close-up filming style and unfiltered portrayal of skateboarding culture resonated with audiences. He followed with other Supreme projects including 'BLESSED' (2018), 'CANDYLAND' (2019), 'STALLION' (2021), and 'PLAY DEAD' (2022), helping introduce skaters like Tyshawn Jones, Sean Pablo, and Sage Elsesser to the world.
In 2021, Strobeck founded his own skate company, 'Violet', a brand focused on nurturing new talent and continuing his creative direction in both skateboarding and fashion. His work often blends skateboarding with elements of art, music, and street life, maintaining a gritty authenticity. Strobeck remains one of skateboarding’s most influential visual storytellers, continuously redefining how the culture is seen and remembered.
